Teachers

A rare piece for me... Usually, I don't know what I'm drawing; I don't know which images, geometry, or symbols will emerge. Everything manifests as I paint, offering answers and hints along the way. But the image for this painting came all at once, fully formed... For a long time, I resisted, telling myself that I don't know how to paint portraits, that I still have so much to learn, and that it would be better to stick with geometry, trees, and little girls... I brushed it aside, tried to forget it, distract myself, shift my focus... But... the painting kept knocking at my door. It came in dreams, kept me from fully sinking into meditation, and hovered constantly before my mind's eye. It demanded to be brought into form.

And... I surrendered. I took the largest canvas I had at home and... stepped aside, trusting the Creator... Who am I to resist the arrival of the Teachers, to judge their likenesses, or to devalue and criticize the divine flow passing through me? If they came to me now, it means these energies and this light need to descend to earth, and it is not up to me to decide in what form. Along the way, I realized that painting the Teachers is truly a blessing; you engage with energies you simply cannot access on your own.... I won't describe what this painting means to me or what it has given me—try to feel it for yourself. Look into the eyes of the Masters; perhaps they have a personal message for you, as my paintings often carry transmissions, and I am always deeply grateful when you write to tell me you've received one.
