If Venus and the Moon represent purely feminine aspects, Mars and Jupiter masculine ones, and Saturn an old man, then Mercury is a youth—and accordingly, governs youthfulness, communication, speech, human connections, and the ability to express oneself outwardly. Mercury is a festive planet, a planet of joy, as well as the planet of diplomats and commerce (referring not only to the material exchange of goods, but also to the exchange of ideas and communication). Mercury is also called the messenger of the Gods. It rules over aspects such as the intellect, eloquence, travel, logic, and the capacity to learn and absorb information.
