The seven-circuit labyrinth is one of the key symbols of sacred geometry. Such labyrinths have been found all over the world: across Scandinavia, in northern Russia, in China, Tibet, England, and Ireland, throughout Southern Europe, in Peru, and among Native American tribes. One was recently discovered in Egypt. Furthermore, depictions of this labyrinth can be seen on the floors of numerous European churches and in rock art across the globe.
The labyrinth features an intricate structure formed by two intersecting spirals. Thus, there is only a single path through the labyrinth, yet walking it is a genuine intellectual challenge—even though it is impossible to truly get lost.
The labyrinth comes in two forms: masculine (solar), as depicted in my painting, where the first turn leads to the left, and feminine (lunar), which mirrors it.
There is a theory that the labyrinth itself is the enigmatic and famed Holy Grail—knowledge encoded by our ancestors on how to achieve a state of wisdom, as the labyrinth’s structural code resembles a chalice (if you trace the sequence of navigating the paths across levels—3, 2, 1, 4, 7, 6, 5—using lines corresponding to each of the seven levels, the resulting shape forms a cup). It is this specific labyrinth that is associated with esoteric knowledge.
As you walk through it, you are led through various states of consciousness, yielding a very distinct experience. The energy originates in the third chakra, moves down to the second, and then to the first; it then leaps up to the heart (the fourth), journeys to the center of the head to the pineal gland (the seventh), descends to the forehead at the pituitary gland (the sixth), and finally settles into the throat (the fifth). Shifts in one’s inner state after walking the path are noted even by those who do not believe in subtle energies... Moreover, some believe that the center of our galaxy is the North Star, accompanied by two spiral streams of stars that intersect at a single point...
